CAN I GET BY WITH JUST ONE HEARING AID?
If you suffer from hearing loss in both ears, it is generally the recommendation to acquire 2 hearing aids. There are many advantages to getting both ears fit including better hearing in noisy conditions, balanced hearing, better localization (knowing where the sound is coming from), among others. Recent advancements in hearing aid technology made it possible for the right and left hearing aid to communicate wirelessly, further improving their function in background noise. One hearing aid is obviously better than nothing, but two are far superior to one when appropriate.

There is only one hearing aid on the market that is intended to be worn 24 hours a day, and that is Phonak's Lyric. Lyric is classified as an "extended wear" instrument, meaning it remains in your ear for up to 3 months, without coming out. With Lyric, you can choose to sleep with your device on, off, or in a "sleep" mode. But keeping your device in the on-mode can give you the assurance that you are hearing important sounds at night, such as smoke detectors, phone calls, security alarms etc.
